Terms of Service
Effective · Last updated
1. Agreement to these Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you ("you" or "your") and B&B Dev LLC ("Solvent," "we," "us," or "our") governing your use of the Solvent mobile application and related services (the "Service").
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of a household, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms for that household's use.
2. Who may use the Service
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. The Service is currently offered in the United States only. You are responsible for complying with all laws that apply to you where you use the Service.
3. What Solvent is (and is not)
Solvent is a budgeting and debt-elimination tool that lets you and the members of your household manually record income, budgets, transactions, and debts, and view projections such as a debt-payoff plan and an estimated debt-free date.
- Solvent uses manual data entry only. It does not connect to your bank or card accounts, and it does not move, transfer, hold, or pay money.
- Solvent is not a bank, money transmitter, lender, broker, financial adviser, debt-counseling service, or tax preparer, and provides none of those services.
4. Not financial, tax, or legal advice
The Service is provided for informational and organizational purposes only. Budget summaries and debt-payoff projections — including projected debt-free dates, interest totals, and any savings figures — are estimates based on the information you enter and on assumptions built into the app (for example, that you make the payments you plan on time). They are not financial, investment, tax, or legal advice, and are not a guarantee of any outcome. Your actual results will depend on factors outside the app, including your real interest rates, fees, and payment behavior. You are solely responsible for your financial decisions. Consider consulting a qualified professional before making important financial decisions.
5. Accounts and security
- You must provide accurate account information and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials and for all activity under your account.
- Notify us promptly at support@solventapp.co if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms (see Section 14).
6. Households, shared data, and data ownership
This section is central to how Solvent works. Please read it carefully.
6.1 Shared access
Solvent is designed for households to budget together. When you create a household you become its owner. When someone joins a household (by accepting an invitation), every member can view and edit all of that household's financial data — income, categories, transactions, debts, payments, and the payoff plan. Anything you enter into a household is visible to, and editable by, every other member of that household. Only invite people you trust with this information.
6.2 Ownership of household data
The data in a household belongs to the household owner (the member who created it). Ownership of the household — and of its data — passes to a remaining member if the owner leaves the household.
If you leave a household, are removed from it, or delete your account while other members remain, you no longer have any right to access, or to receive a copy of, that household's data, and the data remains with the household for the remaining members. You agree that leaving or being removed from a household gives you no claim to the shared data.
This allocation exists so that shared financial records are not disrupted by a dispute between household members. We are not responsible for, and will not mediate, disputes between household members over shared data or over who may access a household.
6.3 Your responsibility for what you enter and who you invite
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter and for your decision to share a household with another person. If you invite someone to a household, you are choosing to disclose the household's financial data to them.
7. Premium features and purchases
Some features may in the future be offered as part of a paid subscription or purchase ("Premium"). If and when Premium is offered:
- Purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play under their terms, and are subject to their pricing, billing, and refund policies. We do not process or store your payment card details.
- Premium benefits the household, not the individual purchaser. A Premium purchase made by one member unlocks Premium for the household. Purchasing Premium confers no ownership of, or continued access to, the household's data. A member who paid for Premium and later leaves the household keeps only their own store subscription (which they may cancel through Apple or Google) and has no claim to the household's data or to the household's Premium status.
- Subscriptions renew and can be canceled according to the applicable app store's rules; manage or cancel through your Apple or Google account settings.
- Any free-trial or introductory terms will be disclosed at the point of purchase.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
- access another household's data, or attempt to circumvent the Service's access controls or security (including its security rules);
- interfere with, disrupt, overload, or reverse engineer the Service, except to the extent that restriction is prohibited by applicable law;
- upload malicious code or use the Service to infringe others' rights;
- resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service without our permission.
9. Your content
You retain ownership of the information you enter into the Service ("Your Content"), subject to the household-ownership allocation in Section 6. You grant us a limited license to host, store, process, transmit, and display Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you and your household (including syncing it between members and devices). We do not sell Your Content. Our handling of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy.
10. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party providers, including Google Firebase (cloud database, authentication, and hosting) and the Apple App Store and Google Play. Your use of those services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services and do not control them.
11. Disclaimers and warranty disclaimer
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that projections or calculations will be accurate or achieve any particular result.
You are responsible for maintaining your own records. While the Service is designed to store your data reliably, you should not rely on it as your sole record of important financial information.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- Solvent and its owners, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or financial losses, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
- Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD $50.
Because the Service provides estimates and does not move money or provide financial advice, we are not responsible for financial decisions you make or for outcomes that differ from any projection shown in the app.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you; nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
13. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Solvent from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of the rights of another (including other household members).
14. Suspension and termination
- You may stop using the Service at any time and may delete your account from within the app (Settings). Account deletion is described in the Privacy Policy and follows the household rules in Section 6.
- We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service or other users.
- Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including 6.2, 9, 11, 12, 13, and 15) survive.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where mandatory local consumer law provides otherwise for consumers in their place of residence.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice (for example, in the app). Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
17. Miscellaneous
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
- Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
